Diogenes for Congress

Diogenes of Sinope (412-323 BC)

Both Antisthenes and Diogenes are called founders of the school known as Cynicism.

Diogenes fully adopted the principles of Antisthenes renouncing every object of ambition, he distinguished himself by his contempt of riches and honors and by his invectives against luxury. He wore a coarse cloak, carried a wallet and a staff, lived in public places, and depended upon casual contributions for his daily bread.

He asked a friend to procure him a cottage to live in; when there was a delay, he took up residece in a pithos (a large tub).

Diogenes of Sinope

Elect a long dead cycnic to the US Congress

This surely could be no worse than our more recent experience and It would be the Ultimate expression of mordern day cynicism and why not? The $700 + Billion Wall Street bailout proves the very riches rejected by Diogenes have corrupted our political system and endangered our future well being as a nation.
